Arizona Muse is the new face of the latest Jil Sander Navy Fall 2011 ad campaign. Shot by Willy Vanderperre, who also shot the Jil Sander Fall 2011 ad campaign, Arizona Muse channels androgyny with wet tousled hair in black and white imagery. Amazing collaboration.
The Jil Sander Navy Fall 2011 ads have a very similar creative direction to the debut Spring 2011 ads which Valerija Kelava fronted. Shot by David Sims, you almost would have thought that they belonged to the same campaign.
Following the end of the Jil Sander and Uniqlo +J collaboration with the last collection being Fall 2011, Jil Sander Navy could be the next answer to having ‘affordable’ Jil Sander. Although the +J collaboration was designed by Jil Sander herself and not Raf Simons, the Jil Sander minimalist aesthetic was still present through and through.
My guess is that talk of having a lower-priced diffusion line has been going on for a while and the launch of Jil Sander Navy was timed to coincide with the departure of the +J collaboration to avoid competition, after all, +J is still priced cheaper than Jil Sander Navy. Case in point, Jil Sander Navy was launched for Spring 2011 in January this year targeted at younger, more casual customers and is reasonable priced at $125 for a shirt to $795 for a coat. Probably one of the lower price points for designer diffusion lines out there.
Contrary to the ad campaigns, there are actually more colours in the collection. Looks set to be a hit, comparable to T by Alexander Wang. Affordable, simple, chic and easy to wear. Take a look at some of the outfits of the Spring 2011 collection below.
