The Dior Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign marks Raf Simon’s first ad campaign as creative director of Dior and also Dior’s first ever print ad campaign for a main ready-to-wear collection since Spring/Summer 2011 –apart from ad campaigns for its Lady Dior and Miss Dior bags. Choosing to focus more on shooting campaigns for its beauty, eyewear, fragrance, and bag collections in recent seasons, the arrival of Raf Simons in April 2012 as artistic director is proving to be a dawn of a new age for the house of Dior.
This is clearly evident in a decidedly refreshing take that has Raf Simons’ favoured minimalism style stamped all over it with the usage of blocks of white frames that were seen at the runway show in September 2012. At once it might seem disperse with models placed at different grounds for a dimensional setting and props plastered randomly but on deeper realisation, it evokes an imaginative realm that is one part dreamlike and another demure.
Aided by Willy Vanderperre who so often shot ad campaigns for Jil Sander when Raf Simons was still there, the Dior Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign features Dior regular Daria Strokous alongside Anna Martynova, Diane Conterato, Nicole Pollard, and Marie Piovesan.

The wealth and power of a mega brand that is Louis Vuitton, saw the $8 million train used for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 show dismantled, shipped and reconstructed in a New York studio to serve as the perfect location for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign. Shot by Steven Meisel, the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign stars Julia Nobis, Franzi Müller, Mackenzie Drazan, Marie Piovesan, Ros Georgiou, Erjona Ala, Magda Laguinge, Marina Heiden, Elena Bartels and Hedvig Palm.
Stephen Jones’ hats take centre stage once again, coupled with simple coat dresses embellished with ornate buttons, appliques and jewels with the elongated tent silhouette make this one fancy spectacle to look at. Even the porter we saw at the runway show back in March makes a cameo here.

The Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign images are raw, grainy and overexposed yet again, courtesy of Juergen Teller who has been shooting for Marc Jacobs for the past 14 years. Up-and-comers Marie Piovesan and Marte Mei Van Haaster feature in this one –which I am very excited about– although you can barely see their faces due to the ‘geisha makeup’.
Not to be outdone by that, stylist Alister Mackie picked heavily adorned and overly styled looks which incidentally were some of my favourite pieces from the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection. The oversized hats were a must but I wished there was a better shot of the pilgrim shoes which I have a feeling are going to be a hot trend this Fall. I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for that!
Ugly, hauntingly scary and more shots of those pilgrim shows. Here is the rest of the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2012/2013 Ad Campaign featuring Marie Piovesan, Marte Mei Van Haaster, Ros Georgiou, Tati Cotliar and Magda Laguinge.
