Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 Ad Campaign | Stella Tennant, Ondria Hardin and Yumi Lambert by Karl Lagerfeld

After the kooky sports-inspired campaign for Spring/Summer 2012 and last season’s mediocre studio shots, the Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign was a breath of fresh air. Lensed by Karl Lagerfeld, Stella Tennant returns to the Chanel ranks with newcomers Ondria Hardin and Yumi Lambert playing second fiddle to the British model. Old muse versus new muses. All 3, unconventional in their own right. My favourite? Yumi Lambert.

Vogue US September 2012 | The Vogue 120 by Norman Jean Roy

Vogue US September 2012 cover, Vogue US, Mert and Marcus, Lady Gaga

Sports is out! Fall is in! The conclusion of the London 2012 Olympic Games brings us to the onslaught of ultra thick September issues and no prizes for guessing who is the winner here. The Vogue US September 2012 issue is literally the biggest issue yet with 916 pages, surpassing the previous world record held by the Vogue US September issue of 2007 by a whooping 76 pages!

How apt as well, that Vogue celebrates its 120th anniversary this very month; yes the magazine was founded in September of 1892. Out of all the fashion publications out there, –at the top of my head– only Harper’s Bazaar can claim an earlier birth date.

Lady Gaga graces the cover for the second time in Marc Jacobs but the highlight for me has got to be The Vogue 120: The Stylish Singers, Designers, Actors, Models, and More (Under 45) of the Moment. Hitting all the nails on the head, this list is essentially a names-you-need-to-know list. Sadly, not all of them made it to the editorial; imagine if they all did!

Check out who made it to The Vogue 120 editorial by Norman Jean Roy below.

W Magazine May 2012 | Stella Tennant by Emma Summerton

Stella Tennant, Emma Summerton, W Magazine May 2012

Stella Tennant stars in an insipid editorial for W Magazine May 2012 showcasing Spring’s light and pasty trend. Titled Hail Pale, photographer Emma Summerton shoots Stella Tennant in muted scenes that are so reflective of my current mood – one that is subdued and drained – and that is why I love it. Boy am I glad that vacation is finally here! Check out the rest of the W Magazine May 2012 editorial featuring Stella Tennant by Emma Summerton below.

Vogue Italia September 2011 | Stella Tennant by Steven Meisel

Vogue Italia September 2011, Stella Tennant, Steven Meisel, Karl Templer

Stella Tennant stars in a bizarre editorial titled The Discipline of Fashion  and covers for Vogue Italia September 2011. Shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer, the Stella Tennant for Vogue Italia September 2011 editorial is inspired by Ethel Granger, the girl with the smallest waist, measuring at just 13 inches. Her ultra thin waist was a product of years of wearing a corset. This and her facial piercings were a result of her husband’s peculiar fashion fetishes. Read more about Ethel Granger at vogue.it.

Vogue Italia has done it again, deviating from the norm with yet another thought-provoking and controversial editorial. I find this extremely disturbing but rest assured; on watching the behind-the-scenes video (scroll to the end of the post for the video), you would realise that Stella Tennant’s waist has been photoshopped a great deal. The corset probably also accounted for the somewhat weird poses that she does. Planking is also featured once again in a fashion spread here to my delight and amusement. Pretty anti-climax if you ask me.

With these stunning visuals, more often than not, the clothes are lost into oblivion. Stella Tennant wears Marc Jacobs, Nina Ricci, Alberta Ferretti and Moschino among others. Check out the Stella Tennant for Vogue Italia September 2011 editorial and be sure to watch the behind-the-scenes video below to see for yourself. Read about the cover story at vogue.it.
