The Prada Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign unveils a mouth-watering cast of veteran and up-and-coming models shot by Steven Meisel. Amber Valletta, Raquel Zimmermann, Saskia De Brauw, Sasha Pivovarova, Eva Herzigova, and Kirsten Owen make up the somewhat surprising cast of heavyweights while Sung Hee Kim, Irene Hiemstra, Irina Kravchenko, Vanessa Axente, and Prada worldwide exclusive for Spring/Summer 2013, Maartje Verhoef –who opened the show– make up the list of exciting newcomers.
“Flowers are a recurring motif: there is nothing girly or ostentatious about these blooms or these women; full-length shots are paired with cropped images, accentuating the contrasting characteristics of these eleven eclectic and iconic models.”
A relatively different take from its previous ad campaigns, this dynamic cast of models do take the attention off the clothes which although iconic in their own right, felt a tad less wearable and trend-setting than its previous collections of late. This concept of “contrasting characteristics” also resulted in 20 pairings (images) with repeat shots that felt slightly overdone but still, Amber Valletta, Sasha Pivovarova, who is slowly edging her way back into the scene post-pregnancy, Vanessa Axente, Irene Hiemstra, and Maartje Verhoef were draws for me.

Shot by Steven Meisel, the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign follows the same concept as its runway show held a couple of months ago. The set design was created by artist Daniel Buren who created a similar checkerboard design for the show in Paris and will also be designing window displays for select Louis Vuitton stores.
The collection was inspired by Daniel Buren’s Les Deux Plateaux, a series of striped columns of different heights in Palais Royal. Marc Jacobs reinterpreted this with repetition and the manipulation of the Louis Vuitton Damier check that set the mood for an optical display of graphic elements. And, I guess that’s all that you need: visual excitement in simple silhouettes.
The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 ad campaign by Steven Meisel stars (from left) Janice Alida, Athena Wilson, Bria Condon, Magdalena Jaesk, Ji Hye Park, Tian Yi, Ruby Jean Wilson, and Nastya Kusakina, who are all relatively new to the scene. One of them, Bria Condon, actually makes her debut in this campaign without any prior experience in editorials, campaigns or shows!
The campaign also bears a similar aesthetic to previous Prada ad campaigns that were shot by Steven Meisel as well. Those two, incidentally, are the ones to watch every season.
The Vogue Italia July 2012 Collections main editorial shot by Steven Meisel, featuring the Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collections has got to be one of the best editorials to date this year –if not the whole of this year.
Starring Vanessa Axente, Julia Nobis, Erjona Ala, Mackenzie Drazan, Lida Fox and Elena Bartels on the three-page cover –all wearing Gucci– with Ros Georgiou, Hedvig Palm and Lula Österdahl in the rest of the shoot, the models managed to blend effortless together while pulling off a myriad of acts that you would never have thought would befit the clothes they were wearing. Immaculate styling by Karl Templer and peculiar yet ingenious set designs by Mary Howard complete this winning editorial spread.

Lensed by Steven Meisel as usual, the Prada Fall/Winter 2012/2013 Ad Campaign features the same concept of a whole new cast of veteran and up-and-coming models, which Prada has been doing for a few seasons now. This time the campaign stars Anne Vyalitsyna, Elza Luijendijk, Iselin Steiro, Madison Headrick, Magdalena Frackowiak and Vanessa Axente who opened the Prada Fall/Winter 2012/2013 show.
Made to look like mannequins, the models follow a creative direction similar to the Prada Fall/Winter 2011/2012 Ad Campaign I think it’s safe to say now that Steven Meisel and Prada can do no wrong.

The wealth and power of a mega brand that is Louis Vuitton, saw the $8 million train used for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 show dismantled, shipped and reconstructed in a New York studio to serve as the perfect location for the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign. Shot by Steven Meisel, the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2012/2013 ad campaign stars Julia Nobis, Franzi Müller, Mackenzie Drazan, Marie Piovesan, Ros Georgiou, Erjona Ala, Magda Laguinge, Marina Heiden, Elena Bartels and Hedvig Palm.
Stephen Jones’ hats take centre stage once again, coupled with simple coat dresses embellished with ornate buttons, appliques and jewels with the elongated tent silhouette make this one fancy spectacle to look at. Even the porter we saw at the runway show back in March makes a cameo here.
